Chapter 4 & 6 Thoughts
How are unit and lesson plans the same and how are they different?
Thoughts before reading: I think a unit plan encompasses a broader variety of information, while a lesson plan is more specific. Unit plans are made up of a bunch of smaller lesson plans, and you would cover one unit over the course of several days or weeks. A lesson plan usually takes one day to complete.
Thoughts after reading: My assumptions that I described above seem to be correct. A unit plan consists of multiple lesson plans. Lesson plans are specific to the objectives of a single lesson within the unit plan, which is the “bigger picture”.
An example that describes the difference between these two could be as follows:
- Ecosystems could be a unit topic
- Lessons within this topic could be rainforest ecosystems, marine life ecosystems, food chains, and more.
