Reflection on the Semester
I am absolutely thrilled that this semester is almost over. Currently, I am three assignments away from completely finishing my work. This semester was, by far, the hardest semester yet. Similarly, this finals week has been the long week of my entire life.
I do want to pat myself on the back for handling this past week as well as I did. So far, I’ve been able to manage my time really well, firing through assignments fairly quickly. I cannot wait to rest easy this Saturday night knowing I got everything done that I needed to.
The workload this semester between all five of my classes was absolutely ridiculous compared to the lack of communication from almost every one of my professors. I know college isn’t supposed to be easy, but I barely got a break this whole semester, while juggling work, a social life, a global pandemic, and constantly moving back and forth between Newburgh and Connecticut (home).
A few of my professors this semester relied very heavily on a delivery method that was very student-based. We barely had class, assignments were posted in the syllabus and not announced to the class, and the eClass pages were (as they always are) very difficult to navigate. As grateful as I am for modern technology, I really resented it this semester.
Even though this semester has been as difficult as anything I’ve ever done, there is some good news. The work for two of my classes is 100% complete, and I have a 99% average in one and a 92% average in another. Things are looking up for my GPA so far. Let’s hope I don’t fail any classes!
I’m so looking forward to having the rest of December and most of January off. My classmates and I all deserve a break after everything we’ve gone through this semester.
